First Lesson: Patience and Prudence
The first time I surfed in Imsouane, I broke my board. When I desperately tried to catch a wave, I came to close to the beach and the wave rammed my board top-first to the ground. For the next few days I practiced technique in the white water waves first.
In Imsouane, you find plenty of very good waves. The catch is, to find a free one. So if you go too far left, the washing maschine wipes you away. If you go too far right, you can bet there is someone else who catched the wave. If you finally got one, you have to learn steering quickly for not colliding with the swarm of other surfers which you have to cross first.
